Memorable dates of Russia: The 200th anniversary of M. Y. Lermontov to be widely celebrated in different cities of the country

Next year the Ministry of Culture of Russia is preparing to widely celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of the poet Mikhail Lermontov in all the cities associated with the name of the poet. This was told at the meeting of the State Duma on culture in Pyatigorsk the Minister of Culture of Russia Vladimir Medinsky.

“The celebration of 200 years of Lermontov’s anniversary will be widely held in Pyatigorsk, and in Tarkhany, in Moscow and Saint-Petersburg”, - said the Minister.

In addition, he said, the ministry next week “for the first time in the history of modern Russia announces tender for the preparation of scenarios of great films” on various topics, including the life of Lermontov.

The participants of the meeting noted that the plan provided for large-scale celebration of conduct repair and restoration work in the memorial house of Lermontov in Moscow and the house-museum of the poet in Pyatigorsk. It is planned to build a museum and educational center for visitors in the museum reserve in Tarkhany.

The program will be completed with main jubilee celebrations. “The agreement has been reached with the management of the Bolshoi Theater for the inclusion of a solemn event dedicated to the anniversary of Lermontov in the repertoire plan on October 15, 2014”, - said at the Ministry of Culture.
