Russian museums: The world’s only house- museum of Peter Kropotkin to be open in the Moscow region

September 6, 2014 in Dmitrov (the Moscow region) will be held the solemn opening of the world’s only house-museum of Peter Alexandrovich Kropotkin – an outstanding scientist-geographer, famous revolutionary man and theorist of anarchism. 

More than 20 years specialists of the museum-reserve “Dmitrov Kremlin” together with the administration of the city of Dmitrov did everything possible to unique house where were sent the last two and a half year of life of P. A. Kropotkin, received its first visitors.

The guests of the house-museum of Peter Kropotkin will be presented lifetime editions of works of the scientist, geographical maps of the end of the XIX – early XX century, documents, many of which have never been published before, household items, the furniture of that era. 

The décor of memorial rooms will tell visitors of the life of Peter Alexeevich in Dmitrov, of the first master of the house – the leader of Dmitrov nobility the Count Mikhail Adamovich Olsufyev, of the long and difficult work of restoring the house and the creation there of a museum.
