Libraries of Russia: The All-Russian contest “Library capital of Russia 2017”

The Russian Library Association opens accepting applications for the All-Russian competition "Library Capital of Russia 2017". Applications are initiated by the Central Library of the region and are given by its director with the necessary coordination with the Regional Ministry of Culture and the Government of the region.

The central event in the city that will receive this honorary title will be the holding of the Russian Library Congress: the XXII Annual Conference of the RLA.

The Congress, held by the RLA every year on the eve of the All-Russian day of libraries, - the most important and largest event in the field of library, opened to representatives of all the libraries and their partners, regardless of membership in the RLA. Every year, it brings together about 1,000 participants from more than 60 regions of Russia. The program covers a wide range of the most relevant theoretical and practical issues of the library and related spheres, including training seminars.

The participation in the competition for the title "Library Capital of Russia" is an effective tool for lobbying regional libraries and their readers, stimulus to the development of culture and education in the region.
