Internet and society: The International Safer Internet Day is celebrated in the world
Its goal - promoting safer and more responsible use of online technology and mobile phones, especially amongst children and young people around the world.
Digital technologies are increasingly part of our daily lives. Therefore, the security on the Internet - one of the most urgent requirements of modernity and progress.
Since 2005 the main coordinator of Safer Internet Day in the world has become a non-profit organization Insafe (European Safer Internet Network), which consists of national centers, created with the participation of the European Commission. Insafe members are all countries of the European Union as well as Iceland, Norway and Russia.
Each of the national centers is engaged in the organization at the local levels in the implementation of educational programs related to the issues of Internet security, organizes the work of a telephone hotline and works with young people to provide evidence-based multilateral approach to improving the Internet.
In 2016, the motto of Safer Internet Day is: “Play your part for a better Internet!”.
In Russia, the Internet Safety Day first was held in 2007..
Official Russian part of the global events dedicated to the International Safer Internet Day, is a Safe Runet Week, which takes place in the days leading up to it. In 2016, it is held from 2 to 9 February inclusive. Events of the Week are held in Moscow, and in other 40 regions of Russia.
The week is a group of activities united by a common theme - the security of Internet users and mobile technology, positive and ethical use of digital services and opportunities, the role of digital technologies in our everyday safety.
As part of the Week are traditionally held conferences, round tables, "straight lines" with experts, presentation of projects and secure Internet initiatives for children and adults, announcing contests or summarized their results, quizzes conducted, information campaigns, television interviews - measures of different formats and different audiences.
