Territory of Russia: The National Atlas of the Arctic was presented at the headquarters of the Russian Geographical Society in Moscow

June 29, 2017 in the Moscow Headquarters of the Russian Geographical Society was held a presentation of the National Atlas of the Arctic. It involved employees of 11 ministries and departments, 26 organizations, more than 200 scientists and specialists of the highest qualification, including 4 academicians of the Russian Academy of Sciences and 6 corresponding members of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The Atlas was created on behalf of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin

The Atlas includes 22 sections. They cover all aspects that characterize the Russian Arctic zone as an environment for human habitation and life. The publication is useful in scientific, defense, educational and public activities.

The Atlas is necessary for the analysis of the current state of the Arctic, the natural environment and will be useful as a reference material not only for scientists, but also for a wide range of users. Researcher of the Arctic and Antarctic Artur Chilingarov stressed that the colossal work was done in a short time thanks to the efforts of many specialists.
