The Government of Tyumen Region was established
On 18 April 2005, the Governor of the Tyumen Oblast S. S. Sobyanin signed Decree No. 34 "On the Establishment of the Government of Tyumen Oblast". The Resolution was adopted to strengthen the power vertical and bring the regional executive power in line with the reformed Federal Government.
The Tyumen Oblast Government is the permanent supreme executive body of state power in the Tyumen Oblast. Until 1991, executive power in the region was exercised by the Executive Committee of the Tyumen Oblast Council of People's Deputies (Oblast Executive Committee), formed in August 1944, when the Tyumen Oblast was formed.
The creation of the executive power of the new time began in the autumn of 1991. After the August putsch on 22 August 1991, the Tyumen Oblast Administration was established on the basis of the Decree of the President of the RSFSR. On 27 September 1991, Y. K. Shafranik, Chairman of the Tyumen Oblast Council, was appointed Head of the Administration. On the same day, the Oblast Executive Committee was dissolved and its powers as an executive authority were transferred to the Administration.
In 1995, the Statute of the Tyumen Oblast was adopted, according to which the post of the Governor of the Tyumen Oblast was established instead of the post of the Head of Administration. As a result of the elections held on 22 December 1996, the incumbent Head of Administration L. Y. Roketsky became the first Governor.
In 2001, S. S. Sobyanin won the next gubernatorial election. He showed himself to be a firm and businesslike leader and achieved undoubted success in the development of the region. In accordance with the resolution of 6 June 2005, the Presidium of the Tyumen Oblast Government was formed on the initiative of Governor S. S. Sobyanin. The Tyumen Oblast Government is formed by the Governor of the Oblast. The heads of municipal districts and cities in the south of the Tyumen Oblast are included in the Government on a voluntary basis as agreed with the Governor.
V. V. Yakushev was elected Governor of Tyumen Region in 2005. Since 2018, the region has been headed by A. V. Moore.
The powers of the Tyumen Region Government are defined by Article 41 of the Tyumen Region Charter and Articles 20, 21 and 26.4 of the Federal Law "On General Principles of Organisation of Legislative (Representative) and Executive Bodies of State Power of the Subjects of the Russian Federation" dated 06.10.1999 No. 184-FZ.
Tyumen Oblast Government is authorised to develop and implement measures to ensure comprehensive social and economic development of the Tyumen Oblast, participate in the implementation of a unified state policy in the fields of finance, science, education, healthcare, social security and ecology.
