The coat of arms of the Volgograd Region is established by the Volgograd Region Law No. 436-OD "On the Emblem and the Flag of the Volgograd Region" dated September 18, 2000.
The flag of the Volgograd Region is an official symbol of the state-administrative status of the Volgograd Region as a full-fledged subject of the Russian Federation. The flag of the Volgograd region is a rectangular red cloth with the image in the middle of the white figure of the statue of Motherland, set on Mamayev Hill.
