In 1860, the first type of rail street transport - horse-rail (horse) was commissioned in St. Petersburg. Initially, Konka was used only for cargo transportation, but from August 27, 1863, after the construction of the first passenger lines (Vosstaniya Square - Nevsky Prospect - the Vasilyevsky Island's arrow; Admiralteyskaya Square - Konnogvardeisky Boulevard - 6th Line VO; Nikolskaya Square - Sadovaya Street - Nevsky Prospect) Konka began to transport passengers. Two types of wagons were used as rolling stock - one-storey and two-storey (with "imperial") .
