A letter from Konstantin Matveyevich Maksimov to his wife Serafime Fedorovna Maksimova from a military campaign on a submarine. The text of the letter begins with the words: "Dear sweet Simulka! We gathered so quickly and went off with an ex-front, that there was no time left for personal affairs ..." (the author's spelling was preserved). Before the text is the date: May 25, 1943. The letter is written on a yellowed notebook sheet in a ruler, folded in a triangle. The letter is repaid with postmarks, there is a stamp: "Viewed by the Military Censorship." - Konstantin Matveyevich Maksimov (1915-1943) - Lieutenant-Captain-Engineer, Commander of the BCh-5 of the submarine Shch-406. He graduated from the diesel faculty of the Higher Naval Engineering School named after F.E. Dzerzhinsky in 1939, was sent to the submarine forces of the Red Banner Baltic Fleet. Since the beginning of World War II served as the commander of the warhead-5 on the submarine Shch-406. For the successful execution of combat missions, the command was awarded the Order of Lenin (08/15/1942), for courage and dedication he was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War, I degree (November 10, 1942). When performing a combat mission on June 1, 1943, the crew of the submarine Shch-406 was killed when the boat was undermined in a German minefield. .
