Samara Arena is an international football stadium , built to host the FIFA 2018 World Cup in Russia. Samara is included in the list of 11 cities that host World Cup matches. The stadium is located in the highest point of Samara - near the village of Radio Center. The stadium is a two-tiered type with a natural lawn, the football field is equipped with artificial heating and automatic irrigation systems. The architectural feature of the stadium is a dome made of metalwork, with a cutout in the center, reminiscent of a space object. Completely covering the structure, downward the dome is crowned with rays - like a star or a rocket. The height of the dome is 60 m; the area of ​​the stadium - 158 400 square meters. m; capacity - 45 000 people. The official opening of the stadium took place on May 6, 2018. After the 2018 World Cup, the stadium will receive a new name "Cosmos Arena" .
