April 5, 2016 in St. -Petersburg was working together the delegation of representatives of the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) and the Organizational Committee for the preparation and holding of the football championship "Russia-2018" in the framework of the third operational visit to prepare the stadiums of the 2018 Russian Football Championship in Russia. The delegation is headed by the Director General of the Organizing Committee "Russia" -2018 "Alexei Sorokin, Director of the FIFA Department for the Competition Colin Smith and Head of the FIFA World Championships Chris Unger The main purpose of the visit de - New stadium "St. Petersburg", built in 2016, is located on the Krestovsky Island in St. Petersburg at the site of the Kirov Stadium (1950). The author of the project is the Japanese architect Kise Kurokawa. The project envisaged preservation of the dimensions of the hill and pavilions of the Kirov Stadium, the location of the football field, the preservation of cash pavilions and the monument to SM Kirov in front of the stadium. The main constructive decisions of the project were the overlapping of the bowl of the stands of the divisions 286 m in diameter, supported by 8 masts, and a retractable field that allows to conduct non-football events on a concrete foundation. The territory of the new stadium is 287,600 sq. m, capacity - 56,196 people, a zone for 400 people is provided for the media.
