August 8, 1944 as part of the convoy "BD-5" (White Sea - Dixon) transport "Marina Raskova", accompanied by three minesweepers "T-114", "T-116" and "T-118" left the port of Molotovsk (now Severodvinsk) towards the port of Dixon. On board there were more than 6,500 tons of cargo and 420 people of the crew and passengers, including women and children, on the trawlers there were 339 people. In the evening of August 12, the transport of Marina Raskova, the minesweepers T-114 and T-118 were torpedoed by a German U-365 submarine, 378 people were killed. In 2015, as part of the second season of the Kara Expedition, Marina Raskova was examined by divers and by a remote-controlled underwater vehicle. The hull of the ship, divided into 2 parts, lies at a depth of 46 meters. Well preserved bow part, which is exactly on the keel, and the aft part, lying with a roll about 15 degrees to starboard. The felling was partially preserved. The engine room and hold, up to the stern, are destroyed due to the entry of three torpedoes. Analysis of transport damage "Marina Raskova" confirms the main version of the ship's death - torpedoing by a German submarine "U-365". In order to perpetuate the memory of those killed in the defense of the Fatherland on board the transport "Marina Raskova," the divers of the expedition were given a memorial tablet.
