The 75th anniversary of the Battle of Kursk was celebrated in Bishkek

A meeting dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Kursk was held at the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Bishkek. It was attended by representatives of the Council of Young Compatriots of Kyrgyzstan, pupils of the Republican Children and Youth Center for Ecology, Local History and Tourism, representatives of the Union of Cossacks of Semirechye.

The meeting was greeted by the head of the Representative of Rossotrudnichestvo in the Kyrgyz Republic Eduard Krustkaln, who stressed that the battle on the Kursk Bulge was a turning point in the Great Patriotic War. The victory in this battle was accompanied by the unprecedented heroism of the soldiers of the Red Army and was extracted largely thanks to the unity of the peoples of the Soviet Union. He also noted that in memory of the exploit of the soldiers of the Red Army in Prokhorovka the church of the holy apostles Peter and Paul was erected as well as a monument - the Bell of Unity of the Three Brotherly Nations.

Associate Professor of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University, Pavel Dyatlenko, Candidate of Historical Sciences and Leonid Sumarokov, Adviser to the Rector of the KRSU, spoke about the course of the Battle of Kursk, its results and about the Kyrgyz people who took part in the battle. A Russian documentary film "The Battle of Kursk" from the series "The Great War" was screened. Artists of the studio "Gala-Theater" read poems of poets-soldiers.

The participants of the meeting also got familiar with the materials of the book exhibition for the anniversary of the Battle of Kursk and the photo exhibition "The Kursk Bulge".

The Presidential Library portal features the electronic collection "Memory of the Great Victory". It includes official documents, photographs and newsreels, wartime newspapers, books, agitation and propaganda publications, collections of articles, biographies, testimonies from participants in combat engagements and home front workers, their personal documents, images of combat and labor awards, monuments and memorials complexes, thoughts about the war of grandsons and great-grandchildren of veterans.
