Virtual tour around the Museum of Defense and Siege of Leningrad now available on the portal of the Presidential Library

As a part of the virtual tour, available on the portal of the Presidential Library, it is now possible to view exhibition halls of the temporally closed State Museum of Defense and Siege of Leningrad.

The interactive excursion gives an opportunity to discover the exposition, which is currently available only as a virtual display, – it was dismantled in May 2018, and after the completion of the major restoration work the museum will launch the updated exposition.

In any corner of the world the virtual tour gives a chance to explore museum halls, which showcase photographs, maps, and authentic items of the wartime, which are accompanied by detailed and thoroughly scrutinized description of an exhibit, its history and context, made by museum staff.

Virtual tours is a new actively developing line of work of the Presidential Library. It is the source of new acquisitions: along with paper-based publications, photographs, audio and video materials, electronic repository collections now feature real exhibits and items of museum collections. The interactive tour round the legendary Aurora cruiser was launched in August 2018. The virtual tour around “Kobona: The Road of Life” military and historical museum will be presented to general public in September. The Leningrad Region Museum Agency has teamed up with the Presidential Library to carry out the work over it.

What is more, the library’s portal provides access to constantly updated interactive internet project “Petrograd of 1917: What, Where, When. In Commemoration of the Centenary of the Revolution in Russia”, virtual tours of „Saving Sword of Revolution”: Cheka Agent as a Person, in Films and Literature” and “The North-West of Russia: Two Regions – Common History. In Commemoration of 90th Anniversary of Leningrad Region and 80th Anniversary of Vologda Region” exhibitions, a tour round the historical building of Synod, which houses the Presidential Library, and the permanent exposition focused on the Constitution of the Russian Federation in the Exhibition Hall.
