Baku marks the Day of Russian Press

The Russian Information and Cultural Center in Baku (RICC) hosted a traditional meeting  with journalists of the Azerbaijani and Russian media on the Day of Russian Press. This holiday is celebrated on January 13 and is timed to the beginning of the release of the first Russian newspaper Vedomosti in 1703. Journalists who most actively cover Russian-Azerbaijani humanitarian contacts have gathered in the RICC.

The head of the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in Azerbaijan, Valentin Denisov, congratulated on the holiday and handed over certificates to all those who had gathered. Azerbaijani journalists who participated in the Caspian Media Forum held in September 2018 as part of the New Generation Rossotrudnichestvo program also received certificates from the National Research University Higher School of Economics on passing a short-term study on journalism in the digital environment.

At the end of the event, a concert with students of the Baku Music Academy was held.

On the portal of the Presidential Library, anyone is available the electronic collection "Russia - Azerbaijan: pages of a common history." Most of the materials presented are archival documents illustrating various aspects of the policy of the Russian Empire in relation to the Baku province at the beginning of the 20th century. Diplomatic, military, transport, industrial, economic, educational, religious and other issues of the joint history of the peoples of Azerbaijan and Russia are also covered.
