Space event held in the capital of Kazakhstan

Gagarin lesson "Space is us", dedicated to the World Cosmonautics Day, was held at the Palace of Schoolchildren in Nur-Sultan. The event was organized and held by a representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in Kazakhstan together with the public association “Graduates of Russian Universities”, the Palace of Schoolchildren with the assistance of the Atomic Energy Information Center of the Nuclear Society of Kazakhstan.

The Gagarin lesson started with a video message from Russian cosmonauts Oleg Kononenko and Alexei Ovchinin, who contacted the board of the International Space Station.

The participants of the Gagarin lesson also got familiar with the materials of the photo exhibition “The First in Space”, prepared by the Moscow Museum of Cosmonautics and the RCSC, which was deployed in the foyer of the Schoolchildren's Palace.

The City Palace of schoolchildren was not accidentally chosen as the venue for the Gagarin class. According to director of the institution Yerbol Irgebay, it was here in 2012–2015 the Young Cosmonauts group led Aydin Aimbetov made his space flight in 2016 and became the third cosmonaut in the history of Kazakhstan. Thanks to him, the flag of the Schoolchildren’s Palace was in space during a flight in near-earth orbit aboard the ISS. In memory of this event, the Aydin Aimbetov cosmonautics cabinet was opened in the Palace of Schoolchildren.

The Russian Center of Science and Culture in Nur-Sultan also hosted an online video conference from the Moscow Museum of Cosmonautics.

On the Presidential Library portal anyone is available the electronic collection “Outer Space”, which includes newsreel fragments, periodicals and books reflecting various milestones in the development of Russian cosmonautics.
