"Gagarin lesson" for young robotic engineers held in London

16 April 2019

The event “Space is us. Gagarin lesson” was held for the participants of the technological camp, held on the basis of the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office in London.

The children heard congratulations from the International Space Station, saw footage of the launch and landing of the Vostok-1 spacecraft. From archive filming of an interview with Yuri Gagarin to the BBC in July 1961, schoolchildren learned about the details of the first cosmonaut’s stay in the spacecraft cabin.

Similar technological camps are regularly organized by the Russian school of mathematics and programming at the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in London. In the course of the event, children study robotics, programming basics, designing and creating autonomous systems.

The “Gagarin lesson” was held with the support of the Roscosmos State Corporation for Space Activities.

The Presidential Library’s portal features electronic collection of documents “Outer Space”, which includes newsreel fragments, periodicals, and books reflecting various milestones in the development of Russian cosmonautics.
