Exhibition “World Heritage Through the Eyes of Photographers” mounted in Gomel

Photographs of unique cultural monuments and amazing creations of nature are put on display within “World Heritage Through the Eyes of Photographers” exhibition, which opened on June 5, 2019 in the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Gomel.

The works were taken by representatives of different nationalities, professions and generations, who used the camera to capture the beauty and magnificence of the UNESCO heritage sites.

Gomel photographers, professionals and photography lovers, supported the large-scale PHOTODIPLOMACY International Contest, which was held within the framework of From the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean Festival Marathon. Organizers highly assessed their works, all participants were awarded diplomas and souvenirs of the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Gomel. Five photos from Gomel became winning works of the competition and entered the permanent exhibition, which has already visited several countries and continues to travel around the world. Apart from Gomel, the exhibition will be also mounted in other Belarusian cities, such as Minsk and Brest.

The project implemented under the auspices of UNESCO is designed to unite different countries and peoples by means of public diplomacy and photography.

The collection “Belarus: The History of Fraternal People” is available on the Presidential Library’s portal. Various aspects of life of this country between 16th and early 20th c. are reflected in official documents, historical and legal publications, religious literature, essays, memoirs, ethnographic collections, as well as visual and cartographic materials, which have been brought together in the collection.
