The Regional Center of the Presidential Library opened in Karelia

The ceremony to open the next Regional Center of the Presidential Library, located on the territory of the National Library of the Republic of Karelia, was held in Petrozavodsk on October 15, 2019.

The regional center in Petrozavodsk became the 40th in a row for the Presidential Library. Its opening became possible due to fruitful cooperation, which began with the signing by the Presidential Library in 2010 of an agreement with the Government of the region, and since 2013, the National Library of Karelia has been connected to the resources of the Presidential Library.

The Regional Center opened in Petrozavodsk will allow building a well-functioning system of interaction between local libraries and educational institutions using the resources of the Presidential Library. One of its tasks will also be the creation of thematic digital collections related to the history and culture of the region.

The Presidential Library’s portal features Republic of Karelia. Pages of History electronic collection, which includes a variety of materials: archival affairs of the XIX – XX centuries; pre-revolutionary, Soviet and modern scientific research; periodicals; historical and current legislation; cartographic and visual means; statistics on the demographic and ethnic composition of the population.
