The Presidential Library’s Regional Center Opened in Kurgan

February 6, 2020 the grand opening of the Regional Center of the Presidential Library took place in Kurgan, which was located on the territory of the Yugov Kurgan Regional Universal Research Library.

The ceremony was attended by Deputy Governor for Social Policy Olga Solozhentseva, chief federal inspector of Kurgan Region Artyom Pushkin, State Duma deputy Alexander Iltyakov, proxies of the Government of Kurgan Region, Director of External Relations of the Presidential Library A. A. Vorobyov and Director of the Yugov Kurgan Regional Universal Research Library N. A. Kataytseva, representatives of educational and cultural institutions, and social activists of the Trans-Urals. The event was attended by Advisor to the Governor of Tyumen Region A. P. Novopashin and Director of the Presidential Library’s branch in Tyumen Region O. L. Shor.

The Ural Federal District has become the first and only region in the Russian Federation in all 6 subjects of which the regional centers of the Presidential Library were opened. It is now possible thanks to the support of the Government of Tyumen Region and the active work of the Tyumen branch of the Presidential Library.

In his welcoming address, the director of the Yugov Kurgan Regional Universal Research Library Natalya Kataitseva emphasized the importance of providing residents of Kurgan Region with an access to the Presidential Library's information resources of scientific and educational importance, as well as the possibility of providing information and bibliographic services based on modern computer technologies.

As part of the celebration, the Kurgan Region Government was handed over an additional agreement signed by the Presidential Library.

On the institution’s portal, the region is represented by Kurgan Region: Pages of History collection. It includes studies, statistical essays, archival documents, cartographic data and photographs of the 19th - early 21st centuries, which spotlight the administrative, socio-economic, geographical location of Kurgan and Shadrinsk counties, the territory of which is the basis of the modern region. The current Charter (Basic Law) of Kurgan Region and its contents are freely available on the Presidential Library’s portal.
