Marking the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory. Virtual tour of the museum “Kobona: The Road of Life” available on the Presidential Library’s portal

The Presidential Library invites you to take an interactive tour of the Kobona: The Road of Life Museum. The institution’s portal provides the new virtual tour prepared by the library’s specialists together with the Museum Agency of Leningrad Region.

Located on the eastern shore of Lake Ladoga, the village of Kobona, which houses the museum, forever entered the history of the Great Patriotic War: it was here that the famous Road of Life passed, connecting the besieged Leningrad with large land.

A virtual tour provides an opportunity to inspect museum halls from anywhere in the world, where photographs, maps, diagrams, drawings, diaries, genuine wartime items are stored, most of which are accompanied by exhaustive and carefully selected museum staff information about the exhibit, its history, context.

Thematically, the exposition is divided into several blocks. The hall dedicated to the Road of Life, provides opportunity to learn about the design and operation of this complex logistics system, built in a short time in extremely difficult conditions; about people thanks to whose efforts they constantly maintained contact with the city surrounded by the enemy. The atmosphere of that time can be felt in the siege room, which spotlights the everyday side of the life of Leningraders during the siege. The cinema presents an installation that conveys the bustle of an evacuation point.

Other parts of the exposition are dedicated to the school, which now houses the museum, and during the war the evacuation center worked; the history of southern Ladoga and the village of Kobona; the life and career of the famous native of these places, the poet A. A. Prokofiev.

Visitors to the Presidential Library’s portal from anywhere in the world can walk through the historical building of the Synod, which today houses is a modern multifunctional cultural and educational center, visit the Constitution Hall, learn about the new materials of the interactive exposition covering revolutionary events in Petrograd.
