The Presidential Library to promote the I International Tikhvin Film Festival

The I International Tikhvin Film Festival "Under the Protection of the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God" will take place on October 9-14, 2020.

The organizers of the film festival are the Tikhvin Eparchy of the Moscow Patriarchate and the "Severnaya Palmira" Congress and Exhibition Foundation. The Presidential Library is the co-organizer. The event will be held with the support of the Committee for Tourism of Leningrad Region.

The themes of the film festival are "Pilgrimage and Tourist Cinema" and "Holy Shield of Russia". It invites young and experienced directors, whose works feature stories about native land, travels to holy places, life and spiritual search of individuals, historical collisions and the interconnection of times.

The contest accepts short films of various genres: documentaries, fiction, animation, television, corresponding to the theme of the film festival and created not earlier than 2017 in Russian or with Russian subtitles.

A non-competitive program of a festival will contain films regardless of the time of creation. The contest works will be judged by a professional jury, which will include filmmakers, screenwriters, film critics, sociologists, writers, journalists, clergy representatives, public figures, and a representative of the Presidential Library.

Within the frameworks of the film festival, the Presidential Library at Senate square, 3, will hold a cinema club meeting providing a film - a potential winner in one of the nominations.

The multimedia exhibition "The 500th Anniversary of the Tikhvin Assumption Monastery", presenting in electronic form both historical and modern materials related to the centuries-old history of the unique architectural monument and the spiritual center of the Russian North, will be running on the same day. The exposition will feature photographs of almost all the buildings of the monastery: the Assumption Cathedral, the Intercession Church with the refectory, the belfry, the cell buildings, the Church of the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God "Krylechko" and others.

The program of the film festival also includes previews in Tikhvin, Lodeynoe Pole, Boksitogorsk, Podporozhye, Volkhov, Kirishy and Kirovsk - the sites of Leningrad Region located on the canonical territory of the Tikhvin Eparchy. It will also provide Internet broadcastings and audience voting. The official awards ceremony will take place on October 14, 2020, during the festival screening. The entrance to the festival is free.
