26 October 2020

September, 21 - November, 30, 2020, the Presidential Library has been launching the 11th annual Russia in the Electronic World Interactive Olympiad. High school and college students from Russia and abroad may register on the website of the interactive educational project and test their knowledge of the Russian language, history and social studies.

From September 2020 to March 2021, high school students will have to complete the Olympiad assignments within three stages. Two of them (preliminary stages) will be held online. Traditionally, participants of the last stage will have the opportunity to test their knowledge in person. Schoolchildren from Saint-Petersburg and Leningrad Region will gather at Senate Square, 3. Finalists from other cities will attend the venues of the Remote Electronic Reading Rooms of the Presidential Library, which are currently open in all 85 regions of the Russian Federation, as well as in 30 foreign countries.

Foreign schoolchildren over 14 years old and students are invited to participate in the Russian as a Foreign Language section of the Olympiad. It includes two obligatory rounds. The first qualifying stage takes place from October 1, 2020 in absentia using a remote testing system. More information about the Russian as a Foreign Language Olympiad is available at http://olympiada.prlib.ru/rusforeign.

The Presidential Library has been actively supporting the awardees and winners of the Olympiad. The best participants get extra points while entering Russian universities.

Materials from the Presidential Library’s collections, which are available on the institution’s portal, are used for the preparation of the Olympiad’s tasks. On the Olympiad’s website in the Archive section, students can test their skills, have some practice, and study the questions. It features all the tasks of the Olympiad since its launch.

In the 2019-2020 academic year, more than 6,000 schoolchildren from 77 Russian regions and more than 30 countries in Europe, Asia and Africa took part in Russia in the Electronic World Olympiad.

The interactive educational project has been existing since 2010. The Olympiad has involved more than 45,000 students. Later, many of them entered the most prestigious Russian universities.
