Online awarding of the winners of the I International Tikhvin Film Festival available on the Presidential Library’s portal

The awarding ceremony of the winners of the I International Tikhvin Film Festival "Under the Intercession of the Mother of God of "Tikhvin"" will be held on October 14, 2020, on the day of the celebration of the Intercession of the Mother of God, at 19:00 on the Presidential Library's portal in Live broadcasts section and on the institution's YouTube channel.

The founders of the film festival are the Tikhvin diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) and the Northern Palmira congress and exhibition fund. The Presidential Library is the co-organizer. The event is supported by the Committee for Tourism of Leningrad Region.

The themes of the I International Tikhvin Film Festival were "Pilgrimage and Tourist Cinema" and "Spiritual Shield of Russia". The works of the participants - beginners and already established directors - tell about their native land, travels to holy places, reflections on life and the spiritual and moral search of a person, historical collisions and the connection of times.

The program of the film festival “Under the Protection of the Mother of God of “Tikhvin” included pre-screenings in the districts of Leningrad region, located on the canonical territory of the Tikhvin diocese.

Cinema club meeting hosted competition works that were also shown on October 7 at the site of the Presidential Library in St. Petersburg. The chairman of the organizing committee of the film festival, Bishop Mstislav of Tikhvin and Lodeynopolsk, joined the event.

The Tikhvin diocese and the Presidential Library are linked by many years of cooperation. Among the implemented projects are video lectures, exhibitions, the opening of a children's multimedia studio “In the beginning was the Word”. A remote electronic reading room of the Presidential Library is opened in the building of the Tikhvin Spiritual and Educational Center. Another example of this fruitful cooperation was the work on the jury of the I International Tikhvin Film Festival "Under the Protection of the Mother of God of "Tikhvin"" of the Director for Information Resources of the Presidential Library Elena Zhabko. It is assumed that some of the films presented at the film festival will enter the Presidential Library’s collections.

The awarding ceremony of the winners of the I International Tikhvin Film Festival "Under the Protection of the Mother of God of "Tikhvin" will take place in the N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov Tikhvin Palace of Culture. Admission is free. The festive closing events of the festival are timed to the renewed tradition of transferring the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God after the solemn service from the Assumption (summer) cathedral to the Intercession (winter) temple of the Tikhvin Assumption Mother of God Monastery.
