A video meeting which opened the cycle of events of the project "Tourist walks to the sights of the regions" was held on February 24, 2021 at the sites of the regional centers of the Presidential Library based on the Franco Crimean Republican Universal Scientific Library and the Sakhalin Regional Universal Scientific Library.

The project goal is to show unique natural and cultural objects, as well as to organize interaction between students from different regions of Russia.

The event was organized by the Crimean Regional Center of the Presidential Library. The participants of the first video meeting were students of the Crimean boarding school for gifted children and the Yuzhno-Sakhalin secondary school No. 5.

The informational supplement was thematic printed and electronic materials dedicated to the nature, history and cultural attractions of Crimea and Sakhalin from the Presidential Library’s collections and the Franco Library.

Thus, the collection The Crimea in Postcards includes 850 postcards of the late 19th - first half of the 20th century. The materials of the collection are organized by geographical principle and are arranged in alphabetical order of the geographical names of settlements. Within the sections, the postcards are grouped into thematic groups dedicated to the sights of a particular area. The materials from the collections of the Children's Postcard Museum were used to prepare the collection.

The development of Sakhalin Region, the only Russian region completely located on the islands, is presented in a separate electronic collection with travel sketches, geographical and historical descriptions of the mid-19th - early 20th centuries, as well as newsreel fragments.
