The possibilities and resources of the Presidential Library revealed within the framework of the School of Directors

July 14, 2021 the Gorky Volgograd Regional Universal Scientific Library based on the Regional Center of Information Resources of the Presidential Library organized the School of Directors "Effective Library - 2021" for the heads of the central municipal libraries of Volgograd Region.

The webinar brought together 11 heads of libraries from Alekseevsky, Bykovsky, Kamyshinsky, Kletsky, Nekhaevsky, Nikolaevsky, Oktyabrsky, Sredneakhtubinsky, Surovikinsky, Frolovsky municipal districts, the urban district of Kamyshin on remote sites.

The online event was opened by the director of the Volgograd Regional Universal Scientific Library Svetlana Safronova. She spoke about the management of library activities, modern trends in the development of libraries, about the implementation of the plan of the National Project "Culture".

From subsequent presentations, the participants learned about the place of the library for national development goals, about the problems in modern library activities, such as library design, preservation and maintenance of library collections of municipal libraries. Among the issues discussed were the topics of organizing the work of inter-settlement libraries, the professional competence of librarians and information retrieval technologies within the framework of working with professional library Internet resources.

Deputy Director of the main regional library Lyudmila Uleva paid much attention to the difference in understanding digital resources before the pandemic and now and also presented a detail content of the Presidential Library, the National Electronic Library (NEL) and the digital platform PRO.Культура.РФ.

Particular attention was paid to the activities of the electronic reading rooms of the Presidential Library in the libraries of Volgograd Region, including ratings by the number of places organized for users, the number of visits and viewed items from the Presidential Library’s collections.

The participants were told about the institution's portal, acquisition, groups of the Presidential Library in social networks. They were also offered to join efforts to inform the audience about the possibilities and resources of the Presidential Library. Today, employees of the Volgograd Regional Center are actively working with the centers of remote access to the resources of the Presidential Library opened in Volgograd Region: they maintain a permanent On This Day section in which they present unique publications from the Presidential Library’s collections, actively sharing their experience in the framework of webinars.

To date, more than 1,200 remote access centers of the Presidential Library have been opened in all 85 regions of the Russian Federation. Their organizational and methodological support is provided by the regional centers of the Presidential Library.
