The opening of the Centre of the Russian Geographical Society took place in Paris

The Centre of the Russian Geographical Society was opened in France. Its head is Daria Loyola - lecturer at the Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne University, chairman of the Commission for Youth Activities of the Coordinating Council of Russian Compatriots Organizations in France. The presentation ceremony of the Centre was held at the Russian House in Paris.

In his welcoming speech, Yevgeny Primakov, the head of Rossotrudnichestvo, noted: "The opening of the Russian Geographical Society Centre in France is a sign of the interest of the French society in the geography and history of Russia, evidence of the closest cultural ties between our countries".

Russian Ambassador to France Alexei Meshkov said that the Representative Office of the Russian Geographical Society would help the French people, who are fond of Russian culture, to develop a passion for Russian history and geography, and contribute to establishing ties between Russia and France.

Daria Loyola spoke about the Centre's plans for the near future. So, at the beginning of October, the largest Russian book exhibition in Europe - the Russian Book Days in Paris, will showcase editions of the Russian Geographical Society.

A special digital collection of the Presidential Library features official documents, archival materials and research revealing certain aspects of the history of the French Republic, as well as diplomatic, cultural, scientific and economic ties between France and Russia in different historical periods.

The Presidential Library's portal provides only a part of the unique digitized materials. The entire collections of the national electronic repository are available in the Presidential Library's Centres of Remote Access located in different countries.
