From Kaliningrad to Murmansk: "Silver Necklace of Russia" exhibition opened at the Presidential Library

12 November 2021

From November 12 to 30, 2021, the Presidential Library provides a multimedia exhibition "Silver Necklace of Russia". It is devoted to an interregional tourism project that unites eleven regions of the North-West.

The project started in 2012 when the President of Russia Vladimir Putin ordered the nationwide tourist project in the North-West of Russia. All these years, there was active work to unite the regions of the North-West under a single brand, develop integrated routes, promote territories and increase regional tourism.

The main goal of the Silver Necklace of Russia project in 2021 is to show all the beauty of the North-West regions and the opportunities for rich and active recreation and travel. According to Kirill Smirnov, Editor-in-Chief of the Peterburgsky Dnevnik newspaper, media projects play a significant role in solving this problem. People in the modern world with its rhythm, dynamics and a huge amount of content need interesting and understandable solutions.

In June, the teams of the Peterburgsky Dnevnik newspaper and the LenTV24 Channel arranged the Silver Necklace of Russia media expedition supported by the Media Association of the North-West. The mission of the expedition members was ambitious and difficult: to explore the maximum of routes and locations in each region in a short time and spotlight them. Within two months, six journalists travelled around all eleven regions, covering more than ten thousand kilometres. The expedition lasted more than forty days and included dozens of routes.

At the North-West Media Forum held in St. Petersburg in October, the Silver Necklace of Russia media expedition won the SeZaM-2021 Prize in the Project of the Year nomination. Also, the forum presented a photo exhibition prepared by the Peterburgsky Dnevnik newspaper. It was devoted to the Silver Necklace of Russia: twenty-four photographs made during the media expedition and showing all eleven regions of the North-West from Kaliningrad to Murmansk.

Now the exhibition is presented in an expanded format at the Presidential Library. The forty-three photographs of the Peterburgsky Dnevnik journalists show the most picturesque and enchanting corners of the Silver Necklace - endless forests and seas, streets of ancient cities.

The Silver Necklace of Russia multimedia exposition is not the first joint exhibition project of the Presidential Library and the editorial board of the Peterburgsky Dnevnik newspaper. Two years ago, the Peterburgsky Dnevnik in Photographs exhibition was opened at 3 Senate Square. It featured photographs revealing the bright events of St. Petersburg at different periods of its development.

The Silver Necklace of Russia exhibition will run until November 30, 2021. The visit to the exposition is available via prior registration by phone (812) 334-25-14 or e-mail: excursion@prlib.ru.

In order to reduce the risks of the spread of a new coronavirus infection (COVID-19), the use of personal protective equipment during the event is mandatory for all attendees.
