On the eve of Cadet Day, the Presidential Library invites students to take part in a quiz

24 March 2023

This year, Cadet Day in the Presidential Library will be held on April 7. It will be dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the breakthrough of the siege of Leningrad and the victorious completion of the Battles of Stalingrad and Kursk, as well as to the feat of Soviet soldiers whose courage and heroism in fierce fighting against the Nazis helped to reach a radical turning point in the Great Patriotic War and liberate the Homeland from the Nazi occupiers.

Cadet Day at the Presidential Library will be held in a new format. The event will be attended by Cadets and pupils of military schools and cadet corps, students of cadet classes of the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of the Russian Federation of Civil Defence, Emergencies and Disaster Relief.

On the eve of the occasion, a list of materials revealing the history of the three anniversary events of the Great Patriotic War was published on the Presidential Library’s portal. Having carefully studied the sources of that time presented in the library’s collections, students will be able to take part in the quiz, which will be held both in remote and face-to-face formats:

  • Petersburg (face-to-face) format – for students from St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region;
  • Regional (remote) format – for students from other regions of Russia.

The quiz in a remote format will be held from March 27 to March 31 on the website of the Presidential Library’s Olympiad. Participation in the online quiz requires registering on the website of the Presidential Library’s Olympiad, which will start on March 27, and answering 16 questions, which include 10 test questions, 5 parametric questions with a detailed answer, and 1 analytical task. The correct answers to the questions of the online quiz will become available on the Presidential Library’s portal on April 3.

Students from St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region will have an opportunity to test their knowledge in a quiz as part of Cadet Day. This stage of the quiz involves a team competition and will take place on April 7, 2023 at 11:00 at the Presidential Library on Senate Square, 3. An application for participation must be submitted by March 24, 2023 by e-mail cep@prlib.ru.

  • Team competition (3 questions on the topic of the quiz game);
  • Competition of captains (participants choose the captains of the two strongest teams who answer a question on the topic of the quiz game);
  • Competition of finalists (the two teams with the highest number of points answer a difficult question on the topic of the quiz game).

All questions are based on resources from the Presidential Library’s collections, mentioned in the list for preparing for the quiz featured on the Presidential Library’s portal.
