The variety of types of hotels spotlighted at the Presidential Library’s multimedia lesson

On March 21, 2023 the Presidential Library hosted a multimedia lesson for schoolchildren "Unique concepts of hotel enterprises from the end of the 20th century to the present". The event was the ninth in the cycle of lessons "The origins of St. Petersburg hospitality: events, people, places", organized by the Presidential Library in conjunction with the St. Petersburg State University of Economics.

Doctor of Philosophical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Hotel and Restaurant Business of St. Petersburg State University of Economics Olga Arkhipova told about be the starting point for the formation of the hotel concept. The event participants discussed the most interesting concepts of hospitality enterprises, found out how a design hotel differed from an art hotel, what a boutique hotel was and whether a hostel could rock on the waves.

As part of a joint educational project of the Presidential Library and St. Petersburg State University of Economics, which started in March 2021, multimedia lessons spotlighted the history of St. Petersburg hospitality from the 18th century to the present day. Among the topics of this series were the impact of the reforms of Peter the Great on the development of tourism in Russia, the first restaurantshotelsinternational exhibitions, issues of etiquette and service in pre-revolutionary Russia, the future of tourist St. Petersburg and etc.
