14 October 2024

On October 9, 2024, the Russia – China: Dialogue of Cultures exhibition opened at the Regional Center of the Presidential Library, based on the National Library of Chuvash Republic. The exhibition is dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and China.

The exhibition is presented in the form of an improvised train carriage, No. 20/24 "Russia-China", and consists of six themed compartments. The information content of these compartments allows visitors to trace the history of relations between Russia and China over time.

The exhibition features works of art, literature, and publications on economics and trade relations, as well as information about cooperation between China and Chuvashia in various industries. Visitors can also explore the Portal to China section, which provides access to cultural and informational resources through QR codes. This section allows visitors to virtually tour different parts of China using webcams and experience augmented reality, including a glimpse into one of the world's most futuristic libraries, the Eye of Binhai in Tianjin.

It should be noted that Nikita Bichurin (1777-1853), also known as Father Iakinf, a native of the Chuvash land, made a significant contribution to study of China. The National Library of the Chuvash Republic carefully collects information about his life and work. This collection includes digitized copies of the scholar's works, including publications from the collection of the National Library, such as A Look at Enlightenment in China (1838) and The History of Tibet and Huhunor (1833).

Visitors to the exhibition will be able to explore the documents of the electronic collection Russia – China: the History of Relations and other materials from the Presidential Library's portal.
