The Presidential Library is hosting an exhibition on its portal titled Soviet Crimea in Photographs by Boris Ryabinin, which features photographs taken by the Soviet writer, journalist, and public figure Boris Ryabinin (1911-1990) in the early 1930s of the Southern coast of Crimea.

Boris Ryabinin was born in the Urals in 1911 and graduated from the Perm Land Management College and the Ural Mechanical Engineering Institute. From 1935 to 1939, he worked as a journalist for the Ural Pathfinder magazine and as a photojournalist for Izvestia in the Urals. After 1939, he began engaging in literary activities.

One of the main themes in Boris Ryabinin's works is the protection of nature and love for animals. He has written books, essays, novels, and short stories about various topics, including industry, agriculture, sports, the arts of the Sverdlovsk region, the military and labor exploits of the Urals during the Great Patriotic War, the history and development of cities in the Middle Urals, and more.

Boris Stepanovich Ryabinin is a member of several important organizations, including the Union of Writers of the USSR, the Central Council of the All-Russian Society for Nature Protection, and the Presidium of the Federation of Service Dog Breeding in the USSR. He is also the Chairman of the Federation of Sports Press, Radio, and Television in the RSFSR (Sverdlovsk).

He was a participant in the Great Patriotic War and has been awarded the Order of the Patriotic War, II degree, and the medal "For Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945".

Boris Ryabinin travelled extensively in the Urals and the Trans-Urals, and photography was his passion. He often commented on how wonderful photography was, allowing people to see loved ones who had been away for a long time. He described photographs as a precious gift, like a blessing, that captured precious memories.

Ryabinin particularly enjoyed the landscapes of Crimea. He wrote that it was a pleasure to enjoy the southern coast of Crimea, immersing oneself in its beauty, hearing the sound of the waves, and capturing a moment in time that would remain visible forever, frozen in a photograph.

Boris Ryabinin compiled a series of photographs of Crimean landscapes into albums that are now preserved in the documentation center of public organizations in the Sverdlovsk region. The Presidential Library's portal presents images from these albums, many of which are being published for the first time.
