National Consortium for Historical Education

On December 6, 2024, a protocol (memorandum) of intent on the creation of a National Consortium for Historical Education was signed at the Presidential Library.

The document was signed by Mikhail Afanasyev, Director of the State Public Historical Library of Russia, Yuri Nosov, Director General of the Presidential Library of the Administrative Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation, and Denis Tsypkin, Director General of the Russian National Library.

The creation of the National Consortium for Historical Education is conditioned by the need to consolidate efforts to implement Decree of the President of the Russian Federation No. 314 dated May 8, 2024 "On Approval of the Foundations of the State Policy of the Russian Federation in the field of historical education", as well as the Strategy of State Cultural Policy for the period up to 2030.

The consortium will contribute to the expansion of library cooperation. Its main tasks include the formation of a unified database of sources on historical education based on the technologies of the Presidential Library for mutual use, coordination of activities in cooperation with state authorities and other organizations on historical education, as well as within the framework of joint projects.

The parties intend to provide each other with organizational, technological (including using artificial intelligence technologies, neural networks, optical recognition, etc.), legal and informational assistance, carry out a mutually beneficial exchange of funds, hold joint meetings, round tables, conferences and other events, exchange experience and information on historical education and other issues, of mutual interest.

The governing bodies of the National Consortium for Historical Education will be located in the premises of the State Public Historical Library of Russia in Moscow. The leading organization of the Consortium for solving the tasks of scientific and methodological support for the disclosure of documents on historical subjects for the purpose of historical education is the Russian National Library.
