
Commemorative event "The War that wounded souls" held at Regional Center of Presidential Library in Republic of Khakassia
On December 11, 2024, experts from the Regional Center of the Presidential Library, based on the N.G. Domozhakov National Library, held a commemoration event titled The War That Wounded Souls, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the start of the First Chechen War.
As part of this event, schoolchildren and students had the opportunity to meet with combat veterans, Leonid Lapin and Nikolai Basangov, and Lidia Akhpasheva, the mother of Igor Akhpashev, a native of Khakassia and a Hero of the Russian Federation who lost his life during the conflict.
The guests of the event shared their personal stories and experiences. Children were told about how events unfolded, what led to the conflict and how it affected people's lives. Lydia Akhpasheva, who experienced unimaginable pain and pride at the same time, shared her memories of her son. Participants of the meeting also heard about another one of their countrymen who died during the First Chechen War, Heroes of the Russian Federation, Igor Lelyukh.
During the event, poems and musical numbers were performed to the accompaniment of a guitar. On the portal of the Presidential Library, one can learn the collection Republic of Khakassia: Pages of History. It includes research, archival documents, and audio recordings covering various aspects of the region's development throughout different historical periods.
