
Russian House in Berlin opened exhibition dedicated to hero of German anti-fascist resistance Alexander Schmorel
The exposition The Russian Soul of the White Rose is divided into several blocks. It tells about the life and exploits of a participant of the German anti-fascist resistance during the Second World War, one of the founders of the student group "White Rose".
Pavel Izvolsky, Head of the Russian House in Berlin, welcomed the audience. The exhibition will run until 31 October 2025.
Visitors will learn about where Alexander Schmorel grew up, the activities of the organisation he founded, his time on the Eastern Front and his spiritual connection with Russia.
It should be noted that in 2012 the Russian Orthodox Church canonised Alexander Schmorel. He is honoured as Saint Alexander of Munich.
The Electronic Reading Room of the Presidential Library, opened in 2015 at the Russian House in Berlin, now allows its guests to get acquainted with the entire variety of collections of the library's electronic collection.
Visitors to the Russian House in Berlin will be interested in the Russian Language collection from the Presidential Library's electronic collection. It includes more than 1,100 items of rare archival documents, including manuscripts, monuments of Russian writing, archival files, scientific works, dictionaries, reference books, teaching aids and much more.
Guests of the Russian House in Berlin can also learn the materials about the history of relations between Russia and Germany, which are presented in the Presidential Library's electronic collection Russia - Germany: the history of relations.
