Presidential Library took part in event "Donbass residents in the Great Patriotic War and in the defence of Leningrad"

On 8 April 2025, the State Memorial Museum of the Defence and Siege of Leningrad hosted a cultural and educational event entitled "Donbass residents in the Great Patriotic War and in the defence of Leningrad". The event was held within the framework of the festival "Victory is One for All!" and was timed to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

Aleksey Voronovich, Director of the Department for Scientific and Expert Work, took part in the event from the Presidential Library.

The event included the grand opening of the photo project Chroniclers of History. The official partner of the project is the Presidential Library.

The project was created by the editors of the New Regions of Russia magazine in co-operation with the East Crimean Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve.

The project is based on archive photos by the legendary photo chronicler of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 Yevgeny Khaldey, as well as the works of Sergey Venyavsky, editor-in-chief of the New Regions of Russia magazine, member of the Russian Union of Journalists, documentary photographer, which show the life of the reunited regions and border territories of Russia in the period from 2022 to 2025.

The photo exhibition with text explanations in Russian, English and German languages demonstrates to the whole world the indomitable spirit of the Russian people in the fight against fascism of the past and neo-Nazism of today and preserves the historical memory of significant events of the XX-XXI centuries for future generations.

With the unique international photo project Chroniclers of History. Spiral of Time through the Lenses of Cameras, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland, is available on the Presidential Library portal.
