Event based on Presidential Library's collection held in Penza Regional Library

Pupils from the 5th "A" class of secondary school No. 74 visited M.Y. Lermontov Penza Regional Library and took part in the game programme "A treasure trove of folk wisdom" dedicated to the knowledge of our country's folklore heritage. 

Two teams – "Fairy Tale" and "Enigma" – answered the questions of quizzes and contests based on materials from the Presidential Library's collection. Everyone especially liked the game "Crocodile's Tears", where they had to guess what kind of floorboard their mates were representing.

An exhibition of dictionaries "Treasures of the Native Word" was prepared for schoolchildren. The children were interested in the four-volume edition of Vladimir Dahl's Explanatory Dictionary of the Living Great Russian Language (1912-1914), presented on the Presidential Library's portal. Schoolchildren had an opportunity to compare it with modern dictionaries from the Lermontov Library's collection.

The fifth graders agreed that winged words make speech expressive and figurative, and the correct use of phraseological phrases and doormats gives speech a special aptness and imagery.

One can continue studying Russian language dictionaries with the help of the basic electronic collection of the Presidential Library Russian Language, which includes more than a thousand items. The collection includes manuscripts and publications of Russian written language monuments, archival files, scientific works, dictionaries and reference books, teaching aids of various types and levels.
