Specialists of Kurgan Regional Centre of Presidential Library took part in All-Russian Conference on 80th Anniversary of Victory in Great Patriotic War

On April 25, 2025 in the A. K. Yugov Kurgan Regional Universal Scientific Library, where Regional Centre of the Presidential Library operates, the All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference "The Great Patriotic War: Lessons of History" was held. It was dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

The aim of the symposium was a comprehensive scientific understanding of the Great Patriotic War, popularisation of historical knowledge and patriotic education of youth.

The conference was held on the initiative of the Government of Kurgan region with the support and participation of Kurgan State University, the Institute of Education Development and Social Technologies, the State Archive of Social and Political History of Kurgan region, Kurgan Regional Universal Scientific Library, Kurgan Regional Museum Association, Russian Military Historical Society, Russian Historical Society, Russian Society "Znanie".

At the plenary session of the conference Oleg Shor, Director of the Presidential Library branch in the Tyumen region, made a report "Resource potential of the Presidential Library as one of the foundations of historical education of the younger generation and youth". He told about the collection of the Presidential Library, which currently exceeds one million units of storage and includes electronic copies of books and periodicals, archival documents, audio and video recordings, photographs, scientific and educational films, dissertation abstracts and other materials.

Head of the Kurgan Regional Centre of the Presidential Library Alexey Avdeenko presented the report "Monuments of the Great Patriotic War on the territory of the Kurgan region (based on the materials of the Kurgan branch of the All-Union Public Library in 1966-1968)".

The specialist of the Kurgan Regional Centre of the Presidential Library Alexandra Belykh told about S. N. Shilov's contribution to the preservation of the memory of the participants of the Great Patriotic War.

On the Presidential Library's portal anyone cam examine the Collection of digitised archival documents, film and photo materials "World War II in archival documents". Its volume today is almost 14 thousand materials: maps, schemes, periodicals, photographs, newsreels. On 14 April 2025 more than 200 documents covering the events of the Great Patriotic War from 13 March to 13 April 1945 were included in the Complex. Thanks to the Presidential Library portal these documents are available from anywhere in the world.
