Presidential Library participated in General Meeting of Russian Historical Society

The General Meeting of the Russian Historical Society (RHS) was held on 10 June 2025. Yury Nosov, Director General of the Presidential Library, Chairman of the St. Petersburg Regional Branch of the Russian Military Historical Society, took part in the event.

During the event new priority areas of the Society's work for 2025-2026 were defined, and a decision was made to include new individuals and legal entities into the membership of the Russian Historical Society and to create new regional branches. The main topic of the General Meeting was the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

The event was attended by the Chairman of the Russian Historical Society Sergey Naryshkin, as well as many authoritative scientists, politicians and public figures.

The Russian Historical Society was reconstituted in the traditions of the pre-revolutionary Imperial Russian Historical Society on 20 June 2012. Its founders were 27 leading Russian educational, scientific and cultural institutions, including the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Presidential Library of the Presidential Property Management Directorate of the Russian Federation, Lomonosov Moscow State University, St. Petersburg State University, the Moscow State Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the State Historical Museum, the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Hermitage Museum and many others. To date, the Society has more than 170 relevant organisations - museums and universities, libraries and archives. RIO branches have already been established in more than 70 regions of the country, with foreign representative offices in Abkhazia, the Republic of Srpska (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Serbia and South Ossetia. According to the Statute, the purpose of the Society is to unite the efforts of society, the state, scientists and history buffs to form an all-Russian historical culture on the basis of objective study, coverage and popularisation of national and world history, preservation of national memory.
