Presidential Library took part in international exhibition project "Flame of Victory"

The Presidential Library participated in an exhibition that opened on 3 September 2025 at the Russia – My History Museum and Exhibition Centre. The exhibition was organised as part of the "Flame of Victory" project and timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of the victory over militaristic Japan and the end of World War II.

The exhibition was prepared by: the Museum and Exhibition Centre "Russia – My History", the Regional Association of Veterans of Military Counterintelligence of the Leningrad Military District, together with the Military Historical Library of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the Presidential Library, with the participation of historians from St. Petersburg and Mongolia.

The Presidential Library presented digital copies of documents on the end of World War II from the electronic collection The Soviet-Japanese War of 1945, which is available on the institution's portal from anywhere in the world. The collection includes research papers, essays, articles, newspaper and magazine chronicles, and cartoons.

The year 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the Soviet Union's war with Japan. The end of this war brought to a close the greatest conflict of the 20th century – World War II. In accordance with the agreements reached at the Yalta Conference, the Soviet Union entered the war against Japan in August 1945, three months after the end of hostilities in Europe. In less than a month, the Japanese Kwantung Army in Manchuria was defeated by decisive strikes from Soviet troops under the command of A. M. Vasilevsky, R. Ya. Malinovsky and K. A. Meretskov. This victory brought Japan closer to defeat and the end of World War II on 3 September 1945.
