Presidential Library: Electronic Students’ Reading Room launched at St. Petersburg State University

On May 27 2010 the St. Petersburg State University jointly with the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library launched the Electronic Students’ Reading Room. It will enable students, graduates, lecturers, applicants, probationers, and staff of the St. Petersburg State University and other universities to access information resources of the Presidential Library.

The opening of the Electronic Students’ Reading Room was timed to the first foundation anniversary of the Presidential library. The Room is located at the University’s Faculty of Law Library. The opening ceremony was attended by the First Deputy Dean of the St. Petersburg State University Faculty of Law V. V. Lukyanov, Pro-rector of the St. Petersburg State University on Scientific Work N. G. Skvortsov, Director of the St. Petersburg State University Scientific Library N. G. Matsneva, and representatives of the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library with its Director General A. P. Vershinin.

“The Electronic Students’ Reading room – is a logical extension of our work aimed at bringing together information resources and making them widely accessible. When discussing the project with the St. Petersburg State University Faculty of Law, we proceeded from the subject area of the Presidential Library’s holdings. And we hope that in the near future content of the library’s website will increase due to electronic documents housed at the Faculty’s library”, - Alexander P. Vershinin said at the inauguration ceremony.

Within the framework of the opening the staff of the Presidential Library delivered a presentation of the Electronic Students’ Reading Room. The First Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Law, V. V. Lukyanov, received an electronic library card, which enables its owner to visit the Presidential Library and all its regional branches.      

The Presidential library was opened on May 27 2009. On September 1 the Presidential Library’s rooms were grandly opened for regular visits.
