Centenary of creation of forensic expert institutions of the Russian Ministry of Justice celebrated in the Presidential Library

July 19, 2012 the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library hosted an enlarged meeting of the Advisory Council on the 100th anniversary of the first forensic expert institutions of the Russian Ministry of Justice.

It was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation, the Prosecutor's Office and the Government of St. Petersburg and Leningrad Oblast, the Russian Federal Center of forensic inquiry and legal experts from all over Russia.

Opening the meeting, Deputy Minister of Justice, E. A. Borisenko congratulated the audience on the anniversary. She stressed that the forensic expert institutions of the Russian Ministry of Justice are free of any kind of departmental interest. Owing to this status, she emphasized, as well as to high professionalism of experts, these institutions enjoy authority in the society, being a guarantee of obtaining objective and scientifically grounded evidence.

During the meeting, there was held a ceremony of rewarding employees of forensic institutions of the Ministry of Justice, including veterans of the forensic inquiry. Forty specialists have received medals and mementos for their achievements in the development of new types of expertise, for good performance in professional activity and conscientious fulfilling of official duties.

The second part of the meeting was devoted to discussion of actual problems of forensic activity.

The Presidential Library is a regular venue for events organized by the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation. One of the first events of the Ministry was the conference "Monitoring Legislation and Enforcement", held at the Presidential Library in June 2010.
