Presidential Library specialists in the video-conferencing mode participated in the scientific-practical conference "Power. Population. Library", which was held in Pskov Regional Universal Scientific Library and was dedicated to legal issues.

As noted at the event, the Presidential Library collections include unique archival documents and materials, rare book editions, audio and video materials on the history of the Russian state, the theory and practice of law, Russian as a state language, constantly enriching with digital copies of materials from various libraries, archives, museums and private collections. Currently, the collection of the library has more than 300,000 items, including publicly available at the website more than 100,000. Much of these documents are somehow connected with the legal theme.

The domestic periodicals collection includes more than twenty legal journals. There are pre-revolutionary editions among them ("Bulletin of civil rights", 1913-1917; "Journal of Law", 1871-1906, etc.) the Soviet period ("Administrative Bulletin", 1922-1930; "Journal of Soviet justice", 1923-1928) and contemporary ("Academic journal" - Irkutsk).

One of the major projects of the Presidential Library is a collection of "The Constitution of the Russian Federation. 1993", prepared to the 20th anniversary of the Constitution. It contains 109 documents, reflecting the direct involvement of the President of the Russian Federation in the drafting of the Constitution in May and November 1993, the work of the Constitutional Council, which opened in the Kremlin, June 5, 1993, materials, related to the popular vote on a draft constitution on December 12, 1993.

The collection includes decrees and orders of the President of Russia and other official documents, drafts and texts of the Constitution, the official letters and speeches, collections of documents, verbatim records, materials of surveys, multimedia publications, sound recordings, newsreels. Of undoubted interest are documents from the private collection of a direct participant in the development of the Constitution of Doctor of Law Sergey Alekseev. Newsreel fragments of his speeches are devoted to the characterization of the political and economic development of the Russian Federation in the 1990s (the law of the lease, the right to property, the preparation of the draft of Constitution, the principle of separation of powers, the events of August 1991). Materials of the collection allow feeling the atmosphere in which we complete work on the project, a deeper understanding of the historical significance of the Constitution of the Russian Federation.

Particularly in demand are video lectures from the series of public lectures at the State Duma and the 20th anniversary of the Constitution of the Russian Federation, the Russian history of constitutionalism and state building. Among the lecturers are such political figures as Sergei Naryshkin, Valery Zorkin, Sergei Stepashin, Sergei Shahrai.

Along with the creation of an electronic collection in the exhibition hall of the Presidential Library opened an exhibition dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Constitution, there are also held the "lessons of the Constitution" for the Saint-Petersburg schoolchildren of 8-11 grades, where students can get in an accessible form a complete information about the history of constitutional ideas in Russia. The Presidential Library actively participated in creating the Virtual Museum of the constitutional history of Russia.

During the conference, the organizers of the event noted that the opening in December last year on the basis of the Pskov Regional Universal Scientific Library of the regional center of the Presidential Library allowed to provide access to resources throughout the volume of Russia's largest electronic repository of materials on the history of Russian statehood. In turn, the Presidential Library collections were enriched with electronic copies of rare books and materials on the history of Pskov and the Pskov region. This is an important step for the development of a unified information space of historical and cultural regions of our country.
