The Presidential Library as an integrator of national scale brings together unique materials related to the development of Russia. This was announced at the V Scientific and Practical Conference "Cultural heritage: integration of resources in the digital space."

Collections of the first electronic national library of the country are rich in a variety of local history materials. They are part of almost all digital collections of the Presidential Library. Modern equipment and technical facilities of the first electronic national library of Russia enable to form the collections of electronic copies of various types and formats: printed and handwritten documents, music, cartographic and pictorial materials, as well as film and sound recordings, multimedia resources.

Materials on local history and regional studies are mostly presented in a basic collection, "The Territory of Russia" and in a series of regional studies’ mini-collections timed to the various events, which took place both within the library and beyond. The collection contains the materials that reveal the potential and characteristics of development of some Russian regions in different historical periods.

One of the latest collections on the development of the region covers the history of the Crimea - from Taurika to the modern period. Total amount of material about the history of the peninsula includes about 100 books, 200 archival files and 450 postcards. The earliest book dates to 1783; the latest edition was published in 2012. The collection includes historical plans, drawings, postcards depicting many towns of the Crimean peninsula, as well as photos of the main attractions of the region. One of the most interesting is a photo album of the early 20th century, "Views of Crimea = Vues de Crimée”, which includes 28 images, depicting landscapes of different cities of the Crimea peninsula: Yalta, Alupka, Sevastopol, Alushta etc., as well as various architectural and cultural attractions.
