The opening of the second remote electronic reading room of the Presidential Library took place today, March 31, 2016, in Brest. It is located in the building of the Gorky Brest Regional Library. The opening ceremony was attended by Alexander Murashkin, Head of the Main Directorate for Ideological Work, Culture and Youth Affairs of the Regional Executive Committee; Igor Konyakin, General Consul of the Russian Federation in Brest; Elena Maslova, Head of the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Brest, representatives of the Presidential Library, and others.
Center of access to information resources of the Presidential Library has modern equipment enabling to organize online conferences, webinars, Russian language classes using the latest technology.
It is also worth noting that this is not the first electronic reading room of the Presidential Library, which opened on the territory of Belarus. In November 2010, the first reading room of the Presidential Library opened at the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Minsk. In late 2015, the second remote electronic reading room of the Presidential Library in Belarus opened in Brest. It is located in the building of Russian Center of Science and Culture, so that visitors can enjoy the fullness of the electronic library holdings, which now account for about 500, 000 units.
Among the materials there are many books and papers covering various aspects of life in Belarus, whose history over the centuries has been inextricably linked with the history of Russia. Documents are brought together in the collection "Belarus: from the history of brotherly people."
By now, more than 20 electronic reading rooms of the Presidential Library are open abroad including Rome, Madrid, London, Helsinki, Berlin, Budapest, etc.
