The Presidential Library continues to develop its regional network in the Arctic

The Lomonosov Northern (Arctic) Federal University held a grand opening of a remote electronic reading room with access to the resources of the Presidential Library. The event took place during a visit to the Ovsyankin Research Library of the University of Alexei Kudrin, chairman of the Northern (Arctic) Federal University Board of Trustees, member of the presidium of the Economic Council under the President of Russia.

Official opening of the electronic reading room of the Presidential Library was an important event for the university. Its visitors will get an efficient access to the entire collection of the first national electronic library of Russia, which numbers today over 470, 000 units. These are printed and archival material, audio and video records, dissertation abstracts, and other materials reflecting the long history of the Russian statehood, theory and practice of law, as well as the Russian language as the official language of the Russian Federation. Opening of the electronic reading room of the Presidential Library will also enable all those interested to participate in the activities of the Presidential Library through video-conferencing. Rector of the Northern (Arctic) Federal University Elena Kudryashova and Alexei Kudrin connected up the big screen, which in future will be broadcasting the videoconferences of the Presidential Library.

The establishment and development of cooperation with the regions is one of the priorities of the Presidential Library. The first national electronic library of Russia plans to complete the development of a single regional network, which will bring together all the 85 regions of our country. The task was set by the Russian President Vladimir Putin at the opening of the library. Today, more than 200 centers of access to the resources of the Presidential Library are open in 75 Russian regions.
