The Presidential Library presents a new digital collection “Architectural Monuments of Dagestan”

A new chapter was added to the history of dynamic partnership of the Presidential Library and the Republic of Dagestan: the library website published the collection, "Architectural Monuments of Dagestan." The collection features 44 albums of 823 black-and-white and color photographs depicting defensive and religious buildings of the 6th – 20th centuries, located in various regions of the Republic of Dagestan. Materials have been provided by the Republican Center for Preservation of Historical, Cultural and Architectural Monuments (Makhachkala).

Following the visit of Director General of the Presidential Library Alexander Vershinin to Dagestan in March this year, it was decided to open a regional center of the Presidential library in the republic. The relevant cooperation agreement with the Republic of Dagestan will be signed this year. It will enable to train specialists to work with the collections of the first national electronic library of Russia, to digitize documents, to integrate the efforts of libraries, archives and the media. It will also enhance the implementation of joint cultural and educational projects.

It is planned that the representative office of the Presidential Library in the Republic will be housed by the Gamzatov National Library which has the necessary facilities and technical capacity for the implementation of this ambitious project. The National Library collections number more than 700, 000 copies of printed and audiovisual products. The library staff is efficiently engaged in informational and educational work to promote the achievements of science, culture and art. 

The opening of the regional center of the Presidential library in the republic will provide its residents with access to rare historical documents and books, archival materials and video footage; the scope of collections of the first national electronic repository currently includes about 500, 000 units. Having been connected to the Presidential Library network, Dagestan users will also be able to join the activities of the Presidential Library through video-conferencing.
