The Presidential Library resources became enabled for Chelyabinsk Oblast local residents

10 July 2017

In early July an official opening of a remote electronic reading room of the Presidential Library took place in Chelyabinsk Oblast. A library for children and adults of the Central Library System of Troitsk named “TeMA” accommodated its premises. This was made possible with signed on July 4, 2017, agreement on cooperation between the Presidential Library and the Central Library System of Troitsk.

The opening of a remote electronic reading room will provide guests and residents of Troitsk with direct operational access to the entire collection of the Presidential Library, which today is numbering more than 550,000 entries. Among these are digital copies of printed editions and archival documents, audio and video recordings, abstracts of dissertations and other sources reflecting the centuries-old history of Russian statehood, theory and practice of law, and the Russian language as the state language of the Russian Federation.

A special place in the Presidential Library stock belongs to regional electronic collections with the materials about all 85 constituent entities of our country. For instance, a selection on Chelyabinsk Oblast: pages of history includes digital copies of the research works, essays, archival documents, statistical materials, photographs and sound recordings related to geographic, demographic, socioeconomic, socio-political and other aspects of the history of the Chelyabinsk Oblast, especially on the first third of XX century.

The new access center to the resources of the Presidential Library became the ninth in a row for the Chelyabinsk Oblast. The remote electronic reading rooms are open and successfully function on the basis of the Chelyabinsk Regional Universal Scientific Library, the Centralized Library System of the Verkhneufaleysk City District, the Association of City Libraries of Magnitogorsk and some other institutions.

The establishment and development of cooperation with the regions is one of the priorities of the Presidential Library. In 2016, the building of a unified regional network, which connected all 85 regions of our country, was completed. To date, more than 360 access centers to the Presidential Library resources have been opened across Russia.
