10 August 2017

On the 80th anniversary of Anatoly Sobchak (August 10, 1937 — February 20, 2000), the Presidential Library presented the digitized copies of the archival documents related to work of the first mayor of St. Petersburg.

There are some significant documents of the historical importance related to the work of Anatoly Sobchak in the Public Chamber of the Constitutional Conference among the materials in open access on the library website http://www.prlib.ru/en/. He was appointed its coordinator by the decree of the President of the Russian Federation Boris Yeltsin on October 11, 1993, (this document is open on the website). The recommendations of the Public Chamber on holding a nationwide vote on the draft Constitution of the Russian Federation, signed by Anatoly Sobchak, dated October 23 of the same year, are also available on the Presidential Library website.

Recently found, still being prepared for digitization material, is the writings of Anatoly Sobchak, which he made at the meetings of the constitutional conferences in 1993. They contain opinions on the process of discussing the Constitution of well-known politicians, some of who still hold leading positions in the country.

In addition, the collection of the Presidential Library is available in the Collected Works of Anatoly Sobchak in 5 volumes, published in 2013 and handed over to the institution by the head of state Vladimir Putin as part of presentation of this publishing project at the Faculty of Law of St. Petersburg State University.

On the jubilee day, the Presidential Library presents some documents related to Anatoly Sobchak on the main page of its website www.prlib.ru.
