The 60th anniversary of the launch of the first Earth satellite was celebrated in Sofia

The Russian Cultural and Information Center in Sofia solemnly hosted the exhibition #Sputnik60 on the history of space exploration.

The official ceremony was opened by the head of the Rossotrudnichestvo in Bulgaria Pavel Zhuravlyov, who said that large-scale multimedia expositions dedicated to the anniversary of the launch of the space era will be held from October to January in ten countries around the world. The exhibition is organized by the State Corporation for Space Activities "ROSKOSMOS" with the support of the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office in the Republic of Bulgaria.

Russian Ambassador to Bulgaria Anatoly Makarov stressed in his welcome speech that Russian space is the country's brand in the face of foreign partners.

The story about significant dates in the exploration of outer space by mankind was told by the head of the Center for Public Communications of the State Corporation "ROSKOSMOS" Mikhail Bogomolkin.

Russian cosmonaut Oleg Skripochka, who congratulated the audience on a significant date, as well as the first cosmonaut of Bulgaria Georgy Ivanov, took part in the official ceremony as guest of honor.

The portal of the Presidential Library features an electronic selection of "Open Space", which includes newsreels, periodicals, books reflecting various milestones in the development of space exploration.
